Firstly, the stand looks fantastic and it of course works well if placement of a soundbar in front of your TV is your objective.
It will take 90-120 minutes to construct and is a little arduous (especially attaching the vertical cantilever).
The quality control issue: the holes for the attachment of the horizontal cantilever section to the vertical section were off centre (The cantilever is the section which attached the TV to the stand). What this meant was the TV was not level when on the stand. After the effort to assemble, you can imagine my frustration. I have had to improvise and drilled new holes through the metal so that I could use the stand. I have asked for a replacement of the Cantilever section. I am sure JL will put the issue right, the fault lies with Alphason not JL. A full replacement would be a nightmare as you would have the assembly to undertake again. The Cantilever is sold separately so hopefully that piece alone shall be replaced.

This looks like the ideal AV unit and once you've built it (1.5-2 hours) it does look great. Back allows plenty of wire options in/out, all concealed by a good front - which allows remote controls to work.
The big downside is the total height inside the cabinet is 21cm (or about 10cm on the lower and upper shelf), which meant only my amp (19 cms) could fit in. A Sonos Connect box does not fit into the left/right boxes unless it is put on its side. I had to return it as the Virgin Media box and amp could not fit in together, let alone a possible DVD player.
Would be perfect if your stuff fits inside
