The BS Nikon Shoe Cover is designed to protect the hot shoe of certain Nikon DSLR cameras from accidental damage. When there is no accessory mounted on the shoe, the shoe cover protects the contacts of the accessory shoe on these Nikon cameras such as D500, D850, D5, D6 cameras. The difference between the BS-1 and BS is that the latter covers the part of the area that surrounds the shoe.
