Expanded Neumann u 67 Set Key Features:
True to the Original
The U 67 was first introduced in 1960 as a vacuum-tube microphone and has since been known for its smooth sound quality. This condenser microphone is a re-edition of the original microphone with few technological advances. The dual-diaphragm K 67 capsule uses a single backplate and is made from a new material, mylar, instead of PVC. The new tapered head grille and the cone-shaped body blend the Neumann sound quality with an elegant design. A key part, the BV 12 output transformer, has been meticulously reproduced according to the original documentation. The EF 86 tube delivers low self-noise and the included NU 67 power supply unit is redesigned to accommodate the slightly higher filament
Wide Range of Applications
The microphone has a low self-noise and is capable of withstanding high sound pressure levels which makes it a versatile microphone for kinds of recording tasks. It offers a studio-quality sound for vocals and can be used for close miking of various instruments. It has a smooth top-end and linear response in the three polar patterns – omnidirectional, cardioid, figure-8. All these features combined make this microphone ideal for all kinds of instruments such as a piano, upright bass, bass guitar, strings, woodwinds, drums, and an acoustic guitar.
Neumann Engineering
It uses the K 67 pressure-gradient capsule along with an advanced tube circuit. Featuring a clever pre-emphasis/de-emphasis scheme, the capsule minimises any tube hiss. The switchable low-cut filter compensates for the proximity effect from short-distance recordings and a pre-attenuation of 10 dB can raise the maximum SPL capability from 114 dB to 124 dB. This enables you to record loud sound sources without distortion.

FAQs:
What is the microphone’s polar pattern?
The U 67 has three features: three selectable polar patterns – omnidirectional, cardioid, and figure-8. The front of the microphone is designated by the Neumann logo so that the selected directional pattern can be used as per the recording situation.
Which switches are included in the microphone?
The microphone has two slide switches on the capsule head that can be used to attenuate sound components below 200 Hz or to reduce the overall level by 10 dB.
How can noise interference be suppressed?
The frequency response of the microphone extends to very low frequencies and is sensitive to low-frequency interference such as structure-borne noise or pop noises. An additional elastic suspension, a windscreen or a pop screen can be used to suppress these noise interferences.
Which all connectors are available?
The included UC 5 cable is a seven-core cable that connects the microphone to the NU 67 power supply unit. The 3-pin XLR output connector is available to attach other output devices.
How much does it weigh?
The U 67 has a cone-shaped body and an elegant, tapered head grille with an approximate weight of up to 560 grams. This feature of being lightweight enables easy handling of the microphone.
